Being in the gaming industry for nearly five years, we’ve already contributed to several well-known AAA titles, such as Crysis Trilogy Remastered, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and Remnant: From the Ashes, among others. This success is largely due to our strong foundation in enterprise software engineering and our previous work on simulation and modeling projects.
At first glance, the gaming industry can seem somewhat chaotic and not always aligned with best software development practices. However, it was reassuring to see at XDS that the values we prioritize at Lunate Games are highly regarded in external development partnerships. The roundtable discussions made it clear that major developers are focused on sustainability and long-term project predictability, and they recognize that working with service providers is a collaborative learning process.
Our experience collaborating with external teams has shown that success is based on key principles such as transparency, predictability, clearly defined boundaries and responsibilities, and stable communication between parties.
Transparency in interactions means that both parties clearly understand each other’s work, task execution timelines, and the overall project status. Predictability can be achieved when both sides are aware of the other’s intentions and goals, enabling effective work planning and providing sufficient security. It’s equally important that the boundaries of responsibility are clearly defined, and that each party’s duties and any potential risks they are willing to assume are clearly outlined. Additionally, maintaining stable and well-adjusted communication channels is essential for regular, efficient exchanges of information about project status, arising issues, or changes in requirements.
To truly implement these principles, minimize human errors, and foster the most creative and productive collaboration, both parties must establish and maintain structured, clear internal and external processes. This will ultimately lead to a positive experience for both sides.
At Lunate Games, we position ourselves as an engineering services provider, committed to applying these key principles in every partnership. By focusing on transparency, predictability, and strong communication, we ensure that our collaborations are productive and lead to success for both our clients and our team.
Two weeks ago, our company participated in the External Development Summit (XDS). It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with and meet many talented professionals from the gaming industry. As it was our first time attending XDS, the experience was truly eye-opening and provided valuable insights into how we can better communicate the services we offer.
